Reasons for Private Water Supply Filtration
If your property is served by a private water supply i.e., spring water, well water or from a borehole, it is highly recommended that all water used for domestic purposes is treated to ensure that it is safe and wholesome. The quality of water from a private water supply can vary greatly and may contain harmful pathogens and parameters associated with serious illness. It is therefore important to understand the quality of the supply and contamination risks such as from grazing animals.
Private supply water should be treated with an appropriate system. This may just be a simple filtration and disinfection system (usually by UV lamp) that will turn unfiltered water into potable water (water that meets the required safety standards for drinking). Additional treatments may however be required to reduce metals, prevent corrosion and nitrate removal if necessary.
